Master of Theological Studies What this program offers you

  • A very affordable, four-semester Master of Theological Studies in English at a leading European university. In the German system of public education, tuition fees for international students are 1,500 Euros per semester for non-EU citizens (for information on possible exemptions, see the link on tuition fees for international students). All EU-students are exempted from tuition fees.
  • Access a great variety of courses in different disciplines and on diverse topics such as: Hebrew Bible and New Testament studies, systematic theology, ethics and philosophy of religion, global history of the Christianity, Christian intellectual history, intercultural theology and religious studies, practical theology, diaconic studies, and spiritual care.

  • You would be able to familiarize yourself with the rich legacy of German Protestant theology, from its Lutheran and Reformed roots to its multifaceted presence, if you wish to.
  • You would be able to immerse yourself in the proud tradition of biblical studies at Heidelberg and master the biblical languages, if you wish to. 
  • You will engage with the biblical texts, discuss central topics of Christian dogmatics and key questions in ethics and philosophy, and learn about the global history of Christianity in different ecclesial traditions and cultural contexts from the early church to the present period.
  • You will examine how to think about ecumenical relations between different Christian churches but also about interfaith relations between Christianity and other religions.
  • You will explore the unique challenges modern secular culture poses to faith and, just as significantly, how Christian theology responds to and engages with these challenges.
